The Alpha Communications® SM222K (Duo-Com™) intercom kit is our most economical master/remote intercom for door entry or any other application requiring a single master and a single remote intercom station, with expand-ability for a 2nd master station.
The SM222 master station has a built-in amplifier and electronic chime. It easily mounts right on the surface of the wall and can directly replace an existing door chime or door bell, on the existing 2- wires! A built-in momentary door release button allows hookup to your own low voltage door opener (depending upon transformer used). The compact OR222 outdoor remote station is fully enclosed with a built-in rainhood. It surface mounts directly on the wall, and requires only 2 wires.
The optional PK407A door opener relay allows connection to mag locks or other types of door openers.
Run two-conductor twisted #22 (max 350™ or 105m) or #20 (max 500™ or 150m) cable between the remote station and the master station locations. If the cable runs near any AC wires, please make sure this wire run uses shielded cabling.
Run two-conductor #18 cable between the master station and the power supply locations.
Run two-conductor #18 cable between the master station and the door strike locations. Make sure to leave sufficient cable at each end to make connections (approximately 10 or 25cm).
Note: If door release functionality from the master station is not required for your application, the ˜DOOR™ button may be utilized for other signaling purposes. Run the door release cable to the optional signaling device (bell, buzzer, etc.) which must be able to operate on 12VDC (or 16VAC if the master is powered by 16VAC).
