IR259 Multipurpose Station
Architects' And Engineers' Specifications

The multipurpose station(s) shall be Alpha Communications® / TekTone IR259, or approved equal. The multipurpose station(s) shall have solid-state micro-controller technology and shall be supervised from the central equipment. Each multipurpose station shall be capable of supporting remote devices as switches or contacts (for capable placement and cancellation), and speakers (for audio communication). No operator controls or indicators shall be provided with the multipurpose stations. The multipurpose stations shall provide for programmable privacy, paging, and call priority from nurses master station (when used in conjunction with other remote signaling devices).

The station shall provide circuitry to supervise code call peripherals and wiring. The IR259 shall also provide for connection of smoke detectors, presence stations, bath stations, and four bulb dome lights. The multipurpose stations shall provide signaling (via central equipment) to the appropriate lamp(s) using the specific flash rate on the four bulb dome light to indicate priority levels. All station components shall be mounted on an attractive flame retardant type ABS plastic faceplate. Connections shall be plug-in type.

The IR259 shall be UL 1069 listed to the latest 4th Edition Standards.

Contractor shall observe all local and national electrical and building codes.

Required Components
IR259 Supervised Multi Purpose Station
The IR259 supervised multipurpose station is for use with the NC205 Nurse Call System. The multipurpose station has solid state microcontroller technology and is supervised from the central equipment. The IR259 provides the capability to connect remote signaling devices such as switches or contacts for (call placement or cancellation), and a speaker (for audio communication). The IR259 does not have controls, LED's, or speakers normally associated with NC205 patient, staff, or duty stations.

The IR259 provides circuitry to supervise code call peripherals and wiring. The station also provides inputs for the connection of smoke detectors, presence stations, and bath stations. These devices, when activated, will provide the appropriate signaling to four bulb dome lights that are also connected to the IR259.

Possible applications for the IR259 are as follows: provides input for several code emergency call stations in an ICU; a PA amp interface for the nurse call master; a control point for exit/entry doors and narcotics cabinets; provides input for bath emergency call stations in public bath areas; provides input/output to a remote door intercom station for access control.
